  • Tillamook with David, Ashley, and Kristen

As a gift to David for his valued work as her employee and to get him back for recommending my services to her, Nancy, from my flight a few weeks back, paid the share for David and his wife Ashley (my college homie) to go flying for his birthday.  The weather was questionable up to the flight, however things worked out in our favor and we were able to have a fantastic flight over to Tillamook.

We left Troutdale to do a fly over of Portland before making our way westward to the coast.  On our way we noticed some bustling smoke and I had my first experience reporting a wild fire while in the air.  Thankfully it was a good distance further to the north from Tillamook so our arrival into town went smoothly.

Once we landed safely and secured the plane, we hopped out and made our way to the FBO to get our hands on the local courtesy car.  I had called earlier that day and made a reservation, however when we arrived, the keys were misplaced and so they had to get their hands on another car to help us out.  Thanks to the crew at the Troutdale airport FBO for helping me and my friends out.

We loaded up the car and drove into town to first the Blue Heron French Cheese Company for some tasty samples of jellies, jams, and brie before making our way to Tillamook Cheese Factory to do the short tour and enjoy some tasty squeaky cheese.

After our fill of cheese, we took off, got back to the airport, and had a lovely scenic flight back to Troutdale.

Not too shabby of a birthday gift!  Thanks to Nancy for making it possible, and thanks to David for introducing us and being a good employee!  Happy birthday my friend.
