After many days of being unable to fly outside the traffic pattern of Troutdale Airport, I went flying yesterday and left the area thanks to it being a beautiful day in the Portland area.
We left KTTD and went over to Aurora (KUAO). Flying out of the area to Aurora was so different than flying from Twin Oaks. Thankfully I remembered the area pretty well and was able to navigate to the airport. After a few landings in the area, we left and went over to Mulino airport. I don’t recall ever flying in the Mulino area, so it was great to be at a new airport where I also did a few landings (even though one was more of a go around – but I touched!)
After flying around Mulino we took off back to Troutdale and had my final landing.
Overall it was an excellent day. My flying is getting a lot smoother and I’ve been able to be more on top of things in the plane allowing me to be more confident on my landings.
Next flight I’ll be doing a short cross-country flight with my instructor to the Scappoose area from Troutdale. This area is around the Portland airspace so I’ll need to be aware of my surroundings and there will be a lot of work in the plane with radio calls. Hopefully I prepare well for the flight and it goes well, cause I want to start flying solo again!
Another thing to note – after this flight – I’ve now flown all three of the Cessna 172s from Gorge Winds Aviation!
Stay high in the sky!
