  • Wow – An Update!!!

Wow, it’s sure been quite a while since I’ve written a new post…and I feel terrible about it!

A lot has happened since I last wrote on here.  No, I haven’t finished my Private Pilot License yet, and no, I haven’t flown an aircraft myself since around August.  The lack of finishing my license and flying has been really getting to me and I’m going to make some major steps towards finishing my license.  In the beginning of May, I started a new job in the Portland area that deals primarily with image processing, but with this, they have hardware (a bunch of cameras) that they place into airplanes and are flown around taking mass quantities of images.  We’re able to then stitch all these images together to get some great views of the ground below.

Last week I got back from spending ten days in Virginia where the planes which has our soon-to-be-deployed systems on board.  I was able to get onto the airports and go on some flights seeing our system in the works.  It is amazing and has given me a much stronger appreciation for becoming a pilot.

I’ve started using a new application for my phone and tablet which will allow me to go through all the FAA written test questions and practice anywhere and whenever I make time.  Even going through a few tests I’ve realized that I’m missing some major knowledge and this app gives great explanations.  I think it’ll be a huge help in my progress.  The application is called: FAA Private Pilot Test Prep.  I definitely recommend it if you’re going to be taking your written test anytime soon.  It is pricy though, but worth it!

I’ve contacted my instructor and am going to have him put me on the books for a written exam at the end of August.  Then come October, I’ll be flying again!  I’m going to kick my ass if I don’t stick to this!!!

    Happy flying – Jason
