What A Rough Flight
The flight this Thursday was simply…no good. There were no crashes, there were no injuries, there was just a lot of flying that didn’t go to well by me.
The day started with me flying a few maneuvers. Maneuver one, the rectangular course; maneuver two, turn around a point, and maneuver three, the s-turn. All of these actually went fairly smoothly. Along with these going well, I’m doing great with my descents and ascents. So good that my instructor isn’t really testing me on these any longer.
I felt really good about the flight so far, but after these maneuvers we flew to the Portland-Hillsboro Airport (HIO). The purpose of flying to Hillsboro was to perform some landings and practice taxiing on a controlled airport. This meaning the airport has a tower which required two-way radio contact/clearance.
Well, I wish I was going to say that these landings went just as planned, but none-the-less it wasn’t. All three of my landings were rough. Either I screwed up on my flight patterns, or the landings alone were just bumpy due to me pulling the throttle too quickly and falling too abrupt.
Either way, the day didn’t go to well. I did though realize what I did wrong for the most part and will correct these issues next flight!
Even through the rough times I’m finding that I still love to fly. This makes me realize that this is really something I’m wanting to do and will continue to do.
