Shirt Off My Back
I didn’t get to fly yesterday, but I did get to pick up the rest of my shirt that was cut off my back after finishing my solo landings on Sunday.
The tradition for pilots when they finish doing their first solo is to cut the back of the shirt off (or at least a section of it) and fill it out with the information of the flight.
My shirt has the following features:
- My name – Jason Gill
- My CFI (Certified Flight Instructor) – James Boughen
- Where I took off and landed – KUAO, Runway 35
- When – December 5th, 2010
- Plane – Cessna 172 – 2108Y
I really take the fact that I had this done a real meaningful moment in my life. It is the sign of things to come and I’m really proud of myself for it.
When you too take the time in life to do something so few have that you’ve dreamt of doing since you were a kid; it trully makes you excited!
The lesson this day was going over chapter 6 in my Jeppison Pilot Training book which covers weather. Had to go over this today instead of my flight since the weather was so dreary.
Not a major breakthrough of a lesson, but it was interesting. Just means I have a lot more to read and know.
